Basic Information On A Standby Database
1. Periodically copy the data to the target database by following the procedure described in the Copying the Database to Another Cluster section of the HP Vertica Analytics Platform Version 7.1.x Documentation.

The script copies only files that have changed.

2. If you are using a Storage Area Network (SAN), refer to replication solutions provided by your storage vendors. For more information on storage replication, see the Best Practices for Disaster Recovery section of the HP Vertica Analytics Platform Version 7.1.x Documentation.

Configuration
We generally use Ansible to manage and update configurations for deployments. To change a set of Vertica hosts across a cluster without Ansible, you will need to update many files. In each of the directories shown in the table below, ensure the /opt/msys/app/<component>/config/production.json file contains the list of new hosts.

Application Nodes Platform Nodes

webhooks-api/cron message-events-etl

After updating the configuration, restart the associated process (/etc/init.d/msys-app-<component>).

Crons are automatically updated on the next run.

The following is an example configuration change:
// As an example of the change

    "hosts" : [
      "a.cluster1.example.messagesystems.com",
      "b.cluster1.example.messagesystems.com",

    ]
  }
